Life barrages us with bad news. It can be discouraging, disorienting, and devastating at times. So, here is some good news to hold fast to today. Whether we see the fruit of these promises here or not until heaven, we can rest assured that they will prove true. God’s Word never fails.
Jesus Saves
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to the condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” John 3:16-17
God meets humble confession with mercy
“Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” Proverbs 28:13
The message of the gospel still has power
“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18
The Holy Spirit empowers us to obey
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
Our suffering will end
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 20:4
Justice will ultimately prevail
“The LORD works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.” Psalm 103:6
Evil will not go unpunished
“Be assured, an evil person will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.” Proverbs 11:21
The persecuted will be blessed
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11
God’s love doesn’t waver
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
Jesus Wins
“Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, ‘Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!’ And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!'” Revelation 5:11-13
Cling to the good news.
